Hi,

I have a Corydora with a Red sore behind fin next to gill, it protrudes from the body and is about 8mm in diameter.
I have removed him from the community tank and put him in my quarantin tank. However, I do not know what is wrong with him so I'm not sure what to treat him with. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Fish Symptoms: Red sore behind fin next to gill, apart from that fish swimming around as normal with his mates and eating as normal.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 10% twice weekly

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: None

Tank inhabitants: To many to list, Please see profile

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): 2 * Otto, 2 * Female Fighters, 3 * Redline Torpedoes, 1 * Black Knife Ghost fish

Can you issolate the fish you will need a bacterial med.
Any fish flicking and rubbing in your tank.

Yes, I have removed from the community tank and put into my quarantine tank.

I have some Melafix, is this what i should be using?

I have not noticed any fish flicking or rubbing, I'll keep a closer eye just in case.

Thanks
Michael

You will need anti internal bacteria med by interpet, add the melafix for now as you can use that with the interpet med as well.
Sores can be caused by parasites as well, so look out for flicking and rubbing.
Good luck.

Just been on eBay, 100ml Interpet Aquarium Fish Treatment Anti Internal Bacteria No.9, deliverd £3.88.
Just hope it gets here on time!

Thanks
Michael

Lfs sell it.
Good luck.

Ended up buying the Anti Internal Bacteria from LFS as I did not want to wait.
I added the treatment on day one and day 4 as described, but he still has the same problem, how long should this take, or is it a wrong diagnoses and should I be trying something else?

I have also noticed one of my guppies rubbing, but only on one occasion, I have also witnessed several fish swimming erratically, maybe flicking! What does this mean?

Thanks
Michael

Sores yes can be from parasites as well.
Do the fish look pale as that a sign of flukes.
Check the gills to see if the look pale with excess mucas on them, or red and inflamed.
Darting around is a sign of a parasite.

Fish looks the same colour as his healthy mates, I guess you could describe the problem area as having excess mucas, with a redish area.
Is it now likely the problem is caused by parasites, if so what should I treat him with
Also, should I do a water change before using any new medicines, this would be fairly easy as he's on his own in a quarantine tank.

Thanks
Michael
