Cory Pics

Don't mean to be rude but do you realise that, that gravel is unsuitable for corys since there barbles are sensitive and the gravel and destroy them and they won't be able to get for or something like that? I heard they need nice small and rounded gravel and sand is the best for them. Also nice pics but this is in the wrong section it should be in members aquarium pictures section. ;)

I have gravel, and the barbles are fine, no damage at all. Its only sharp gravel that causes problems,a nd tetras gravel is smooth. :)

hmmmmmm.... luke_e im afraid i would have to agree with durbcat, i only have gravel in there temporarily and i will switch to sand as soon as pos, in fact i made a topic about it.

Luke.....although you may see no damage your not allowing them to rumage like they would in the wild. Hows a cory meant to dig through gravel to it's food, you need sand to see there true natural ways.

Barbels can get damaged in any type of gravel as a piece of gravel may trap a barbel thus breaking the end off.

Never thought of that. I stand corrected, but my corrys seem to get on fine, i put algae wafers in crevises in my bogwood to allow them to 'hunt' and 'scavage' for their food, also i place cucumber sticking out (thin sticks) and they like looking for these too.
