I just noticed a small furry patch on my cory's upper lip. I think it may be a fungus possibly mouth fungus. What can I use to treat it with that is cory safe ?

Mouth fungus which is columnaris can you issolate the sick fish, maracyn one and two.

Maracyn–Two
Manufacturer: Mardel
A broad-spectrum antibiotic for internal or external gram negative bacterial infections which can even be absorbed through the skin. Effective treatment of fin and tail rot, popeye, gill disease, dropsy (swollen body, protruding scales), septicemia (bleeding or red streaks on the body), secondary and internal infections. Effective even when fish won't eat.
Active ingredient: Mincycline hydrochlor.

Thanks Wilder. I'll move the fry I have in with my sons feeder guppies and put the cory in the fry tank.

Ok good luck, you could use tetracycline if the fish is issolated, but if you run a filter it will wipe the bacteria colony out.

Nope no real filter. The ER tank has an undergravel filter with airstone because I read that alot of the meds can do just that to the bacteria colony. I'll have to go back tomorrow for the tetracycline .

Tetracycline will still wipe the bacterial colony out in the undergravel filter as well, good luck.

Thats okay this is my fry/ er tank and I scrub it thoroughly when I get sick fish and then run a small filter from my bigger tank in it so the colony will restock for when I have fry. I think I definately need another small tank just for one of them (oh no ! MtS strikes again [LOL])

Hows the sick cory doing.

Better I think. He started eating today and his funfus mustache fell off. It kind of looks like when a scab falls off ; slightly raw but healing. He tried to nibble me which is a good sign. He was so ill before I was able to scoop him up with my hand and he just lay there. Now he's swimming around and eating and if I put my hand in to adjust the air stone he nibbles at me. Looks like he'll make it. I'll leave him in quarantine for a while and keep the treatment up a little longer just to be sure.

I agree keep the treatment going longer, as sometimes fish keepers cut the treatment short and it all flares up again, good luck.
