well i was changing my water like i do normally and i took half of the water out of the tank and i ot side tracked. well when i came back 2-4 hours later i noticed my corys were spawning. i watched for awhile and saw how it all works, the dance and the egg laying. then i noticed some of the eggs were being eatin by the other corys. so i took them out and put them in a small open glass dish with about 5 inches of water and a small airstone. probably about 50 eggs that were really sticky.

what do i do now?

do i need to do anything else spacial?

im pretty good with livebearers but these are my first eggs.

please gimmi some advice.

thanks

hi bUcky, congratulations on the eggs!!!when my peppered cories laid eggs i put them in a small tank with a air stone directly underneath them.then it was just a waiting game.from what iv read on this forum it takes between 3 to 5 days for them to hatch depending on the temperature you keep them at & what type of cory eggs they are.mine took 5 days to hatch.the only thing i can say is keep an eye on them & make sure they dont fungus.if they go fuzzy looking & soft then they need to be removed so that the fungus doesnt spread to the other eggs.in a day or so you should notice little blackdots inside the eggs, this is the fry.sometimes if you use a magnifying glass you can see the fry moving around inside, its soooo cool!!!
thhe thing youv got to think of tho is whether that glass dish will be big enough for 50 cory fry to live in?about 24 hours after theyv hatched you have to start feeding & the bottom of the tank has to be kept really clean or bacteria could breed & harm the fry.
my 20 eggs were origionaly in a small breeders trap in the main tank but i didnt think this would be big enough so i moved the whole thing into a tank, tipped it on its side & sunk it.im glad i did now as the more room & water theyv got the easier it is to keep them clean!so if poss get another tank ready for them!
sorry i cant help anymore but im a novice at this as well,my firstever cory fry are 6 days old. :) x

well im on the risght track its day 2 and no fungus! woohoo i hope i have babie cories i have the perfect tank for them. thanks bud

if youv got the perfect tank for them why dont you submerge the dish with the eggs in it now, like i did with my breeders trap.that way you wont damage the fry by trying to move them once they hatch & most of the egg shells will remain in the dish once they hatch so will be easy to remove.cory fry are really tiny compared to most live bearing fish fry & there could be some that you dont even notice in the dish of water,so be careful you dont miss some if you move them once theyv hatched!forgot to mention yesterday that when they go into a tank dont put any thing on the bottom and put plenty of water in the tank as its easier to keep clean.good luck with the eggs!let me know how it goes mate!!! :) x

just looked at what fish youv got and iv noticed that youv got guppy fry.when your cory eggs hatch dont put them in with the guppy fry as the guppys will eat them, cory fry really are tiny, they need a tank on there own!!! x
