hey all im new to the hobby and new the the forums i need some advice.
i currently have a 300l tank 4fter. my stock is as shows :
11 corydoras sterbai
6 panda barbs
1 moonlight gourmai(rescued him he wasnt my fish of choice :) )
2 bumbleebee catfish
1 snowball pleco

I keep the tank well maintained and the  filters working well. my filtration is exellent :)

now the problem i have is i think my tank is a little crowded so i went and bought a 2nd hand 3ftx1ftx1ft tank which i beleave is around 120ltr correct me if im wrong. i was planning on putting all the corys in there so they can have there own tank and setup just right for them.

The panda barbs i have advertised on ebay as i find them a rather messy and bostrious fish with the corys. i dont want anything for them im giving them away free to a good home (hit me up if anyones intrested to come get them in southampton UK :) )

anyway back to the point should i move my 11 corys into there own tank?

many thanks guys

Corys are pretty peaceful so you can keep them with other fish if you like, be sure that the other fish doesnt pic on them though. 11 is a little crowded for corys though. 3-4 usually do pretty well together, I would just split up the group so there arent so many of them in one tank

yea i agree the corys are very peacefull :) but the barbs piss them off all day long lol so i was gona move em and yea 11 is a little to many but i allways thought the more the better with corys as there great in nice sized shoals. would rather they all be together so u think the 3ftr be ok?

Yes, you're right; the more the merrier is 100% true for cories. A group of even more than eleven would be preferable, from the cories point of view. Don't forget that these fish live in shoals of hundreds, or even thousands in the wild (there are some great videos of corydoras shoaling in the wild on YouTube :) ) so as long as your tank isn't crowded, definitely have as many as you can.

If you think the other fish are bothering them, then yes, they'd be better away from that, as they're quite shy fish that can be too shy to feed properly if there are boisterous fish about. The only downside I can think of, is that they might become even shyer, if there are no open water/shoaling fish in the tank was well. In the wild, fish use what we call 'dither fish' (small shoaling fish, like tetras) to alert them to the presence of larger predators. If there are no small fish swimming around, the other fish go, "gosh, there must be something scary about, I'd better go and hide".

They'd really appreciate a sand substrate as well, if you don't have that for them already :).

Yea sand substrate for them ofc. So you agree there be ok in there own 3ft tank? They are stunning fish and just wanna make sure that if i set up the new tank theyl have enouhh room and that realy.

They'll be fine in the 3 ft, give them a sand substrate & they'll love it.
A few dither fish would be a good idea & make them feel safer & they may even spawn for you too

Oh thats great to hear. Well sand for sure. Going to add bogwood caves and anubas plants too as find they love tp rest under the lohs and graze about live plants alot in the day. As for top dwelling fish. Would dwarf gouramis work? Not a fan of tetras myself.

Sterbai are some of the largest cories and I see no reason to move them to the small tank. 3fx1fx1f only gives about 85l and this is brutto. Imho way too small for 11 sterbai. Sorry.

I see well mixed opinions here i see :-[
