Cory died....

Had a julii cory die.....

all the others are fine...

going to do water tests tonight for ammonia, nitrIte, and nitrAte....

if the water is off, what do i do??

If the water is off you need to do lots of water changes with dechlorinator.
Did the cory have any symptoms like eroded barbels or was showing any odd behavior before death?

Need water results or we are fubbling around in the dark, how many gallons is the tank, i full list of fish and how many, what is your maintanance on the tank.

well, i'm going to take a guess in the dark that adding 4 cories, some mollies, etc pretty much all at once caused a crash in the tank...i'm guessing the test results won't come back looking too good

water checked, and

Ammonia = 0

Nitirite = 0

Nitrate = about 5......

but we did a massive 80% water change before adding the fish, so that would explain teh low nitrates at the moment as it was only last thursday.

It's not a good idea to do massive water changes it can shock the fish, it can alter your ph also, how big is the tank in gallons, what fish do you keep, which type and how many.

How new were the corys when one died and did you acclimatise them and for how long?

In her defense I do believe the w/c was done before the fish were added after a fishless cycle. Acclimatising may have been a factor or it may just have been stress sadly.
Did the cory show any signs of distress before dieing? Anything at all?

the water change was done after a fishless cycle, with no fish in the water.

the cory turned "scatty".....swiming erractically and very quickly, shooting to the surface, the "dive bombing" to the bottom.....it did this for a day and a half.....

could if it got caught up in our air feature??...a circular air stone, being fed by air pump, giving a column of air in the middle of the tank??

was the water a problem?

and tank size and fish stock are in my sig......

though the cory were in for about two days with nothing else....

Could of been ph shock, but i would of expected the others to do the same, or it was already ill.
