Went to feed my fish this morning and discovered to my horror that my peppered catfish, Zinc, was missing an eye. :(

Tank is a 5 gallon with him and 2 other Cories (Panda and Leopard) and one Betta.

I am 100% sure my betta did this. He gets along great with the two other cories but started bullying Zinc a few days ago.

Poor guy is swimming around in circles in the midlevel of the tank- very confused. Worst part is I am moving back to my dorm today, so I need to decide what to do. I have a feeling he won't be able to handle the stress of transport- poor guy is in enough confusion as it is. :-( He also is having trouble swimming in a straight line, I assume because of his now monocular vision.

Please help!

Edited to add: Zinc and my betta have lived in the same tank for almost 5 months now. Also, there is no swelling, cloudyness, anything. Just an empty eye socket.

Can you post your water stats please in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Did you notice the eye bulging out before the cory lost his eye.
How does the missing eye area look, does it look infected.
Anything in the tanks that sharp.

Don't have water stats at the moment :( (kit is not here, it's back at dorm)
Never any eye bulging
Missing eye socket is clean
Nothing sharp in tank

Ok.
Need to check your water stats are in order.
It could of been a fish that sucked the cory eye out, but which fish I don't know.

Well Zinc is starting to look worse and worse... he seems very stressed, he's having trouble swimming horizontally and has absolutely no appetite (usually first to the food, a total pig).
The other cories are hanging together away from him and look fine.

I'm not sure what to do. I don't want him to suffer :(

Edited:

He's gone. :-(
I put him down once he started gasping for air and twitching uncontrollably at the surface.. He was an absolute mess. He slipped into unconsciousness quickly in the clove oil I had and died peacefully.

RIP Zinc. :rip:

Sorry bless his little heart.
R.I.P.
