Does anyone have a corner tank that can offer me advice. I have always had a rectangle tank, but am thinking of purchasing a corner tank in the near future. Are there any disadvantages to corner tanks?
Thanks

reaching the back corner!!

if your thinking of the juwel tanks then having the filter in the back corner is going to be a right ass to reach if it is going into a corner!!

I don't have my own corner tank but when i'm dusting the display ones at work there the hardest to clean the tops...

it mainly depends on the size of the tank wot the height your still going to have difficulties reaching the back corner of a triangle!!

on the Trigon 190 it's pretty easy to reach the back bu on the 350 it's very hard. and if you think you have to reach down into the back corner then to reach the Juwel foams then you need 1 hell of a arm to get down there.

of course this is all based on the juwel tank. If you get another make and have a external filter instead this will be easier and you might only need to a step to reach the back on the tank when cleaning.

this is an interesting thread and Pauls comments are well appropriate to me as I am toying with the idea of getting the Trigon 350....

I have to use a step-on tool box to reach the back of the the Rio 400 though so is it much different??

it will be a bit different as the measurements go on the Trigon 350 your going to need to reach near double the length of the Rio 400.

Please correct me but i think the Rio 400 is 50cm front to back where as on the Trigon it's something like 87cm from front to back on a side. When I'm at work tomorrow I'll measure middle front to back corner though.

You may wonder why i know all the measurements but I was looking at 1 of the trigons aswell recently.

:) Thanks everyone - I will consider the back corner problem when I go to look at some. At present I have only seen them in a catalogue so didnt consider the prospect of it being difficult to get to the back.

I guess I will end up with another rectangle!

remeber that the Juwel tanks are bow fronted so will comeon out that bit further but if your getting say a Ehiem that have flat fronts and external filters then you won't have so much of a problem.

I've got a 75 gallon corner tank, it's 26 inches deep and from the front of the glass to the back corner is 25 inches. I just stand on a step stool and I don't have any problems with it. I'm only 5' 6" so it's not like I'm a giant person. I really love the tank. I've also got a standard rectangular 55 gallon tank right next to it but I love the look of the corner tank much better.

The only problem I had was figuring out how to make a canopy for it. I finally managed though after I found my protracter so I could figure out what angles I had to cut the wood at.

Thanks, my thoughts are the bow fronted type as they look so much smarter, mind you, someone told me the black one looks like her toshiba tv setup at home!!!

oh how well does our old school stationary serve us in this day and age!!

I think i might just dig out my pair of compasses (why they were ever called a pair I don't know!!) and draw some lovely circles!!
