I have the Coralife Aqualight Retrofit Kit which includes 1 True Actinic 03 Blue 65W and 1 10,000K 65W Daylight Compact Fluorescent Lamp. My 36G Bowfront is about 18" high. It is a freshwater planted tank. Is this an appropriate setup for this tank? Should both lamps be on at the same time?

This is not a suitable lighting setup for a planted tank, these lights are for marine setups and will induce the growth of algae if used on a freshwater planted tank, you should not use the atinic light this is a definate no no, the 10000k you could use but lights at this end of the spectrum will usually encourage the growth of algae, so my advice would be not to use either, ideally you want to use full spectrum flourescent lights in the 5000-7500k range.

Have a look in the planted section for a pinned article on lighting, if you need any more help or are unsure just ask in that section of the forum.
