Hi I recently bought a copperband and was told they are hard to care for. The problem I am having is that he is seeing his own reflection in one side of the tank and he thinks it is another copperband and he wont stop hiding down in a corner. Every time he ventures out he sees it and runs back to hiding. I dont know why its just the one side the reflection bothers him. Any ideas on what to do? Is there a black material I could put iside the tank to stop the reflection or will he get over it after a while?

yeah he I got some live brine shrimp and he ate so many I was worried a little. He is venturing out allot at night when just the moonlight is on and he cant see his reflection but the daytime is still very skittish. thanks for the help

I had one and it was'nt difficult to look after at all, in fact one of the easiest i have kept! They love frozen mysis shrimp it went mad for it. it also killed all the annoying aptasia anemone's!! never bothered any of my polpys etc!! it was a great fish..

just bare in mind, if it is in a reef tank, once it has run out of glass 'nems to eat they will generally pick at corals, starting with polyps and mushrooms. If it is well fed and prefers the alternative then you may well be ok.

Although some have luck with the copperband, its well noted that they have an attrocious survival rate in captivity. Some have them live for years with no problem but many others have them seemingly healthy for months and then suddenly they simply die :*)

I am considering purchasing another to aid me with my aiptasia problem but with the luck i have had recently i think i might steer clear.

I was recently told that silver-belly wrasse eat aiptasia, and I have certainly seen the one we have at work picking at them in one of our coral tanks. This may be a hardier alternative to a copperband, although i am not certain on this.
