Hi

i have bought a falurcla batterfly and is in qt and has a small bit of white spot what copper treatments do you know that can be used on it as i have only used cuprisin to get rid of white spot and it hasnt worked

thanks scott

Better off with a fresh water dip in my experience. Warm some water up to around tank temperature, place the butterfly in there for around 4 minutes, then return him to the QT tank. Wont notice any difference the same day, but should be massively clearer the next. If any persists to the third day, repeat. I always try to avoid using fresh water on the same fish on successive days. White spot wont spread fast enough to recover itself in that one day off. Once he seems clear for a few days, I like to do 1 extra dip just to make extra sure.

I'm fairly sure there will be quite a few people advising against fresh water, however, I have never had any problems, and know of fish which have remained in fresh water for in excess of 30 minutes with no side effects. Just try to keep it to 4 for the sake of the animal. I find it to be a sweet spot, long enough to remove problems, not too long to cause excessive stress.

yeh i been doing fresh water dips on all my fish for the last couple of years and it is just this one that cant seem to get rid of the white spot

any ideas ?

would you suggest doing a fresh water dip on a baby blue tang because i hear they are very sensitive to change in water climate. i posted a new thread about my tang. im really timid to do a fresh water dip cause im brand new to this hobby and i know how sensitive these fish are.

hi

is it a carabeian blue tang or is it a regal tang if so you can do them on both get a bucket get some tap/Ro water and fill it up half way and get the kettle and get the water temputare to the same as your tank and DO NOT WALK AWAY FROM THE BUCKET the tang will freak out a bit its ok get a clock and time it for 4 minutes and add some buffer to the bucket so the ph is just about the same

thanks scott
