Cool! My fish hand feed! Do they all do that?

I just found out today after sticking a pinch of food in the water still 'betwixt' my fingers, that my fish will eat quite happily 'from the hand' especially big Dave, the big boss male cichlid, who just hovers there stuffing his gob.

The neons darted in for a go a couple of times but they were kind of intimidated by myself and the looming prescence of the cichlid male!

Do they all do this?!

when i was rearanging my rocks the other day my dwarf gourami were sucking my hand i think fish become attatched to there owners (feeders) i can also run my finger along the side of the tank an all of the fish will follow it and try an suck it through the tank

yep mine do that.

i can also "Kiss" my angel Fish. if i put my lips to the glass she pecks the glass in exactly the right place. put my finger to the glass and she just looks at it.

Very clever fish.

My first pair of rosey barbs, they would eat from my fingers. All my current fish try to eat the freckles off my arm. The could pass for the darker orange/red/brown flakes. I used to be able to 'pet' on of my fish. When I was in the tank, he would swim in and out of my fingers, and would let me touch him... I wouldn't rub though so that I didnt hurt him/take off scales or slime coat.

definately! Most fish will surely eat form your fingers IME. Even if some fish are a lil shy at first theyll soon learn your the one that brings them their grub

Some of our shyest fish at work took about a week before they started being hand fed but now the lovely 'pearlspot cichlids' seem to instinctively now when its feeding time

my oscar literally jumps out of the water to get to my hand as soon as I put it near the surface of the water!! theres enthusiasm for you. He's given himself a headache a few times though!!
All my other fish except my senegal birchir will eat from my hands, some with diferrent levels of enthusiasm than others!!!

yep all my cichlids will happily attack my hand to get to there food.

the oscar is no exception who will jump out the water a bit to grab his.

my arowana is now learning to take whole prawns gently out of my hand...good boy!

my fire eel will come up to the surface to eat bloodworm i'm holding.

the megalodoras will tae food from my hand if i reach down to him.

and i'm working on my rays at the moment!

My Green Spotted Puffer loves prawn and will take them from my hand. I like to play chase with him and he'll also jump up and snatch it out of my hand if I hold it above the water. The only problem now is if I try and hand feed him anything else such as Krill, he'll start jumping up at my finger!! Must look like big juicey prawns from where he is!!

all my fish will hand feed but i dont let them all hand feed. no pictus's or doras. the doras is blind so 9/10 times it just bites me a lot and then goes back to sleep and teh pictus's are pretty craqazy and have spikes and teeth. my bichir still eats from my hjand for now until it gets bigger
