its really anoying how people want to keep big cichlids in a 20 gallon! i think the only cichlids that should be in a 20 gallon are dwarfs, and they even deserve better....

like i have been saying all along sean the clown is my favorite fish, he will be moved to my friends tank his dad just needs to fix the electrical because he has 4 tanks in his room. if not my frined can hold him for me at the petshop he works at. And if anyone really cares i would have a larger tnak for these guys but my mom will not let me, she has let in to the idea of a big tank in the basement but she said give it more time. Im only 16 if i had my own place it would be difffernt but what my mom says goes.

If it's your favourite fish surely you would treat it with respect but no you keep it on it's own and did no research at all on it.

If you want to keep convicts empty the tank of ALL inhabitants then buy 5 or 6 of them. Once 2 of them have paired up remove the others, otherwise the pair will do it for you.

Thats very well having to go buy your Mums rules but your just not reading what we are saying to you.

i understand pual, i guess i will take back my clown, ill try to have them hold him until i can get my larger tank, i have 1 more question if they are agressive when breeding then y just keep 1? and i guess ill keep this to 1 topic for now on.

I been through all this, and now happy with my tank, yeah it over stocked is always is, but I have no life, and all my time is taken up by my animals.

I once tryed keeping a Bichar in a 2 ft tank, I ended up lossinf alot of friends and having to leave a forum over it, I have since sold that tank, and had a brake of 6 months and started again, with another 2ft, a better more noligable person.


who to say you are going to be happy with the cons in a month or so, then you would have got rid of loads of inicent fish for nothing, and what if they breed do you have somewhere to take the fry, have you exsperience of raising fish.

On the clown thing I have a solitry clown, I acherly got him yesterday, and am happy to get him a friend if he looks like being unhappy, as far as I know they have a growth spert in the fist 6 months and then avage an inch per year after and rearly reach there full adult size.

I mean come on I to have seen many post's where you ask advice and then ignore it. I mean if your not willing to take advice why on earth post.

well said but i do take the advice from here, for instance before this forum i wasnt getting my zebras or neons any friends but since then i did, i got rid of my pitcus cats also. but also my clown on an inch an inch per year he could live until live until i get my 55, he doesnt seem lonely, in fact i see him with the rams all the time. I also switched my gravel to sand because of this forum, the clown loves the sand My friend works in at petshop i could sell him the fry, but im thinking hard right now.

He may look happy but he isn't he wants friends of his own kind.

and clown loach often don't reach there full size because people don't give them the correct size tank for them to reach there full size so they die an early death like goldfish in so many cases.

If you put a plec in with the convicts it will likely have a crack at eating the eggs then the convicts will attack it and might manage to kill it even if they do injur it, it will still damage there brood.

You have to have a pair of convicts if you have 2 males or 2 females 1 of them will kill the other.

A breeding pair don't tend to fight and kill each other although it has been known so you have to watch out once they have there babies.

im picking 1 up today, i might get another 1 but do convicts really need to be with their own kind, if so ill et a male or female later this week r next week
