I had three convicts in my 10gal and one died todai. 2 females and 1 male the one that died was a female and i believed it died from the male picking on it. Could there be any other reasons of its death?
And What do u feed convicts? :dunno:

Are these adult convicts? Tank too small. keep two in a 29 or 30. Convicts are aggressive to one another but have never had one kill another. I have also not had three in a 10 gallon tank?
I presently have about 10 convicts, 4 of which are female (100 gallons). They all get along fine. I have had three litters of @ 150-300 baby convicts, this is when they get real mean but not to one another, especially to the female.

Convicts will eat any tropical food such as flakes, pellets, bloodworms ,tubflex worms, guppies, convict fry, ect.

These fish are tuff. They will live in bad conditions. I feed babies to my sons turtle, some survive in turtle tanK for weeks in water conditions that would be considered horrid for tropical fish.

I think you have a pair on your hands and thats why one of them has ended up dead, in a 10g tank there isnt much room for it to hide for safty. IME the male convict who has paired up is always the one who is highly agressive and tends to pick on any other con wh trys to come next to his girl :)

Im not saying anything to get critazied but my friend has 2 Breeding cons in a 15g LONG its 24" long and they love it they are so active. They already had fry the male is close to 4" maybe 5". So i dont think a pair needs a 30gallon tank. IMO :dunno:

Convicts are used extensively as a beginner cichlid. Many beginners don't do frequent (weekly) water changes. This is why they are mostly recommended for at least a thirty gallon tank. Most ten gallons are not able to sustain a breeding pair of full grown convicts. Only the experienced fish keeper should try to keep them in such a setup.

Ah i see! Yah people were telling me i could keep my 2 JD's in a 55gallon.. I think they thought i didnt do water changes enough
