I was thinking that I might get into breeding... I already have a female, and now I'm debating on if I should get a male so I could start breeding fish.
I've never bred fish before, so I'm, obviously, pretty new to this and am going to need some help
Basically, all I want to know is...
what to feed them...
I know it's good to start off with egg yolk or w/e when their "food sack" is gone, but it is really dirty :S
and when to feed them
if someone could do up a chart on when, it'd be really appreciated, something like (Week 1 - egg yolk, week 2 - baby brine shimp) kinda thing, so i know when i have to move onto a new food

also, any other help would be appreciated...

If your thinking of breeding convicts the first question you should be able to answer is, "what will i do with the fry" obviously you can't keep them all and they have a market value of pretty much 0 as they are so easy to breed, Also most LFS will not want to take them as they will be hard to sell on.

However breeding convicts is possibly one of the easiest things to do provided you have a pair,
With mine i fed the fry Liquifry everyday for the first week or two before moving onto crushed flake and brineshrimp

I'd obviously get rid of them, i would probably, also, check the LFS to see if they will take them, even if i have to give them to them for free, it's basically just something to do, lol, if not then i'll also check on "kijiji" come time to sell them

Also, the liquifry for the first week or two, alright, not too hard, but the brine shrimp and crushed flakes, can i do one or the other, or does it have to be both?... i know brine shrimp is better, but flakes is cheaper, lol

convicts aren't too picky really and are pretty hardy little things so i woul have thought either would have been fine

i didnt feed mine anything special at all, found that they looked after them selves :) flakes, shrimp and bloodworm went into the tank tho :)

alright then, so now i know what to feed them!!! :D
any more special requirements? all i know is that i'd need a sponge on the end of the filter, and that i need a flat rock for them to breed on

Best thing is to use a small terracotta pot or build yourself a cave out of bogwood or rocks, Convicts will generally choose the most secure area of the tank to breed in and if these are already in place for them they will soon find and use them

alrighty then, so, since i don't like pots, because of the fact it's unnatural (sorry, that's me) i'll make a cave and see what i can do about caves... and i'd love to get some of those root decorations people have, or stumps... or whatever
