About 10 days ago added 2 firemouths and 2 salvinis to my 55 gallon with my 2 female convicts. Everyone has been getting on fairly well, but one of my convicts has been very dark in color and a little more aggressive than normal. I figured she was just trying to maintain her territory with the new fishies. Then yesterday morning I noticed that rather than zooming around the tank she was "protecting" one of the flower pots... And of course there's a big batch of shiny new eggs stuck to the side of the flower pot. And none of them are white, so I'm guessing that they've been fertilized.

I'm just wondering who the daddy is.... :shifty: LOL No one has been helping her protect the eggs, we'll see if anyone steps up once they hatch. Hopefully I'll have some pics up soon!

perhaps ur "2 female convicts" are 1 male 1 female?

No, I'm sure the convicts are females :good: I've had them both for about 6 months. I'm thinking she's hooked up with either one of the new firemouths or the salvinis. I'm pretty sure I ended up with a male and a female salvini, but I'm not sure how to sex the firemouths. I would have figured that all of the new ones would be too young to spawn though. Guess we will soon find out!!

Boooo!!! All the eggs have been turning white... guess it's a no go. Could have been interesting though!

I once had a Salvini that was totally loved up with my Parachromis Managuense. They swam everywhere together and even protected a cave. But nothing came of it, and I am glad as I don't really like hybrids.
