Convict Breeding Pair Not Working Out

Well .

If your new for africans ill tell you alittle about them.

>They all come from africa.(lol)
>Other african you see if tanks labled as "Assorted Africans" are most likley hybrids.
>If your a beginner on Africans try kribensis(Pelvichromis Pulcher)
Easy to breed. males get 3-4" and female are usually 3".
Have lots of caves for them.
.
>Other african cichlids you see are mouth brooders. They carry the eggs in there mouth for a month or 24 days.and release the fry.
But after that they have really nothin to do with the fry and might eat them.

wow, ya im new to africans lol. mmmm Well i'll ask the shops around here if they can get kribensis's and see how much they would be. I love cichlids so i want to keep something that would fit in my tank lol. For the kribensis can you tell them male/female when there young? cause all the shops around here if they can get them in they wont be adults they will be babies or very young adults.

OH OH OH hey now the shop here gets Jewel Cichlid's in. I heard thats a african fish. Do they get big? i will do alot of reading before i do get any other fish tho lol.

For sexing kribs its pretty easy.
Males will have long fins and an eye spot on there tail and the dorsal.
Where as the female will probibly have only a spot on her dorsal.
When your picking out kribs the female will probibly short and chunky.

Jewel cichlids get alittle bigger getting about 5" and are abit more agressive than kribs so id probibly go with kribs.

OH ok cool, well today my male convict does not have his strips on no more guess he in a bad mood lol.

also i asked the shops around here, one will get them in but for ones that are almost adults its like 8 bucks a fish. I guess thats fine with me. I'll let you know if i keep the convicts or sale them off.

I do have a question. What does it mean when they have the black strips? And what does it mean when they lose the strips and turn like a dark gray color?

My female is hiding in the plants today and my male has changed back to a dark gray color with no strips.
