Hey guys,
was just hoping to get an idea of the scale the process would take. Any suggestions other than DONT DO IT :D. General problems, ideas, approaches, how you did it, the costs? if you could help me out i would be much appreciative.
thanks.

:hi: to the salty side - i'm afraid your question is a bit too general for most of us to answer. Tell us about your tank and what your ideas are and we will try to help you

Hey, where you planning to do fish-only, fish-only with live rock, or a reef? That pretty much determines the costs, labor involved, etc.

Also, it would help to know how big of a tank you have.

thanks for the welcome.
I have 2 fan tails and a goldfish, 6 neon tetras.
http://www.juwel-aquarium.de/en/panorama335.htm?cat=27 is my tank. 37 imperial, 44 us gallons. think i read its a good starting sized tank. If you have a look at that, the filter i have is is one the juwel bioflow ones. think its the 3.0 one. i have 2 other filters which ive recently turned off, can too much current or filtering be too bad? looked like they were constantly have to resist the current
I would prefer live rock? was vaguely looking at the 3 environments and thought it was achievable.
Get some shrimps in there :D
I'd be prefer to have more than just fish, but i dont mind as a starting step

that tank would be a good size to start off with :good: your live rock would be your filter :good: ifyou want corals then you need to have ro water. you can have your own ro unit or buy it from a pet shop like what i do. also if you want corals you will need T5 lighting :good: if i were you i would read some journals :good:

ive read quite alot about it, but i keep goin round in circles without picking up any definitive facts. Like with the live rock, wouldnt i need any additional filtration?
Workin on the t5 lighting :D

To start with you would only need LR. LR is full of bacteria and other goodies and if you get a good amount of LR you'll OK with filtration. A 44G, I would eventually look at getting a protein Skimmer.

Hmm, LR to cycle the tank right? was lookin at some protein skimmers, was lookin on ebay, like £8 for one, is cheap ok? so say if i get the fish and LR is working properly. There wont be a need for additional filtration system until i change it till i get some corals?

Btw a sump???
Ive got a 30 gal tank i can diy one.
good?
will i only need that if i make a reef?
thanks for the help :D
