Hello Cichlid Lovers!

I have been thinking about getting an angelfish or two for my 20 gal tall tank. I have been doing some research and I come up with a 10gal/adult requirement. I am wondering if this tank would be suitable for two angels and 4 small cories who currently reside in it. Would two angels be okay together in this tank? I'm not intending on a breeding pair, just two picked randomly from the store. Would a lone angel be overly aggressive? ????

I have also been getting different max sizes for angels ranging from 7.5cm to 15 cm, what is the more reasonable adult size? :dunno:

Has anyone heard of Pterophyllum leopoldi? From what i've read, they have a max size of 4". If I could find those I would think the tank is large enough. Otherwise I'm looking at P. scalare, and I'm doubtful that the tank is adequate.

Thanks, in advance.

I keep angels and I think you're right that they wouldn't go in a 20g. The ten gallon rule seems to be a bit iffy to be honest, I've also read that you need 12" length for each angel in a tank of at least 18" high, and 12" deep, and I don't know how accurate that is (and again I think that "rule" is a bit iffy as you wouldn't keep an angel in a 12" tank). I do know that you need a tank of at least 18" high though.

As for their size, my older juvies are about 2.5" in body size alone - I'll see if I can measure them properly for you. :good:

I've heard of Pterophyllum leopoldi, but have only seen them once on Aquarist Classifieds - I don't know how easy they are to get hold of.
