I was planning on using some waterproof 33gallon storage containers for guppy fry and was wondering if i could stock a 550gallon kiddie pool with fish and plants? I just have never heard of anyone using large containers or kiddie pools for tropical aquariums, so would this work? assuming i used a pond filter, and kept the water at room temp(68-70Degrees). Any advice or info would be much appreciated, Thanks.

I have thought about this idea aswell. And im sure some of us out there would of thought about it at some stage aswell. My many concern would be wither its inside or outside, if outside, birds, lizards, frogs could eat the fish you put out. Another factor is if your going to cover it so the fish dont jump out. Not familiar with pond filters, if its indoors, could use a normal fish aquarium filter?? Not sure about that tho. Last point, it might be abit extreme to set it up just for guppy fry. If you did it with all the adult guppies and let them do their thing, then you might be able to get some babies out of it because of the space and hiding places you could provide when you make this pond/aquarium. Hope that is some help to you.

id check if its coated with any chemicals of any kind but other than that i cant see a problem myself should be tip top and if u wanted to heat the water a koi heater would do it fairly easily :good:

Actually you will find that lots of pregnant women have very large inflatable pools (filled) in their homes for weeks and weeks, and without (flooding) incident. However, although I would not personally keep one up for much longer than that - or recommend it either - I can see that someone might *consider* it. People do all sorts of things, and it never does to assume

Oh no it would definitly be rigid sides :). Thanks for all the info and advice i really appreciate it :D

Koi or goldfish, cause they are more suited to be viewed from above. Or maybe hatchetfish, they look cool from above too.

Just a thought - what if you stocked it with like 500 kuhlie loaches. Then you'd go and get in the pool to scrub the algae or something and have all these slippery eel/worm things everywhere!!!!! :hyper: :shout:
