Had a couple of unexplained deaths this week as posted under emergentcies (A week of dying fish)

Now I think my fish have constipation
Several have long, stringy white poo's and look a little bloated. Some are lathargic too.

I have read on these forums about giving peas. Can't remember the method.

5 questions;

1) Frozen peas ok?
2) Cooked or raw?
3) shelled?
4) quantity?
5) how to offer.?

All comments from experts in this area welcomed

Stringy white poo is more often a sign of internal parasites rather than constipation in which case there would be no poo and the fish would look bloated.

A course of Waterlife Octozin should sort them out.

Dorsey,

Cooked, shelled and mushed up a bit. Would start with only a couple and see how quick there eating, depending on how many fish you have who like veg of course.

Have been treating for that with Interpet No.9.

I often read people saying their fish are constipated. How exactly do you know? Do you monitor the tank 24/7 and watch for for the amounts of faeces discharged and compare it to a "normal" value? Do you ask the fish?

Interpet #9 is an anti bacterial medication, you need a medication that treats for parasitic worms in the gut.

Ok Ok...so I said I THINK my fish was constipated......Thin stringy white poo with bloatedness. Have been put right on that which was a great help....sarcasm however isn't :p

Like i said Waterlife Octozin is the medication to use for worming fish, it comes in a tablet form and can either be added straight to the tank or dissolved in a jug of water first.

Nor is self importance ;)

I was opening that question to the forum (damn the obseletion of the second person singular in the English language) as a whole as many people seem to know the toiletry requirements of their fish from one quick look.

Thank you....(should have got that the first time, sorry  )

You always get idiots on any forum that can only use sarcasm as an answer, ignore!
If that is aimed at me I take great insult.

I spent many posts earning the title of "a bully" and being told I am just an idiot is downright wrong. If you want to label me, at least use my correct title. :<

Oh, and digging up a 3 day old post just to put what you said might be considered just a bit of
pokey.gif

On the other hand, if you refer to others, feel free to continue :D
