I have a 10USG tank with two platies, two ADF, and four cories. I know, a little overstocked but I've seen worse. Anyway, I have one male one female platy (bad ratio.. I didn't know that when I bought them, they don't seem to bother each other.) Anyway, I've had them for about fifteen days, and they've been good. Recently the miss got a bump, and it was equeal on both sides so I presumed pregnancy. She wasn't lethargic, ate, and her scales were down. Plus she's a platy, for goodness sake! Anyway, she's been growing progressivly bigger and now, about two days later, she's really fat. Still happy and eating. I don't, however, notices her poop and she grows when I feed her. Is she pregnant or constipated? I tried feeding her a pea, but she had just eaten some bloodworms and they never seemed to like peas, help?

Also: I know this is wierd, but you guys know your stuff and I'm too lazy to make a new topic. My PH is 7.6; I think the Cories like it acidic, and I want to lower it somehow without making my water yellow. I have a piece of bogwood in there, not sure it's doing much though, and I have PH Down, but I heard it's better just to leave it instead of doing that, should I lower it or are they fine?

ALSO... Is 73F too low for a Platy or too high for a Cory?

love K.J. :fish:

73 is a bit low i'd say. Stop the blood worms asap they arent good for constipation only feed blood worms as a treat. Shes very likely constipated, fast her and use the pea they will eat them once they are hungry

OK thanks, I will fast them. Is 75 too high for the cories then? Thanks :good:

I agree leave ph alone only need to alter ph if you ever wanted to breed the corys.
Are you mushing the peas up between your fingers into little bits.

Cories (depending on type i think) are ok between 69.8-80.6 ideal 75. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/speci...p?species_id=51

Platy: 68-79°F

Well it's 79.. on my other thread I posted about too high of lighting, so hopefully if I only use 30watts then I can keep it at 75.. yeah, I mushed up the peas. She sort of "sucked" on them and then left them, so I don't know, she might have gotten a bit. She still has a little "bump," but it's much less than last night. I'll feed them on...hmm, monday and just give her a pea.

look out for dropsy, but it does sound like constipation. One of my goldfish is constipated at the mo I just gave them some peas and he ate the whole half in one go!

It might be dropsy, I had an outbreak, but I kinda doubt it. when the others had dropsy, they were really lethargic. Plus, I had been giving the platies flakes for a long time, they probably needed more vegetables and bloodworms.. She seems just as active today, though I haven't tried to feed her. Stomach's gone down a little bit, so I think it's getting better.
