Hi Folks

Since moving house during the Summer I cant get a batch of fry to survive, they keep dying as they 'hatch', with all of being gone by day 4 from spawning. The pH and water hardness from the tap is the same as my previous house, and there is no ammonia, nitrite or nitrate. I treat it as before for chlorine/chloramines and heavy metals. I do notice that I am getting more algae in the tanks and fungal infections on the adults than before. Do you think there is something (parasite, phosphorous etc.) in the water killing the fry or causing harm? Has anyone else had consistent fry deaths, and how did you deal with it? Should I be splitting the eggs into separate batches? Any advice would be great.

Thanks
Lee

its possible that the adults are passing a fungel infection right to the babys, I would treat all the adults, then sterlize all the tanks, then recondition the adults and spawn again, trying perhaps a few drops of an anti fungel in the spawning tank water as a preventative.

If, by chance, it is your water, you may want to try getting bottled water for your fish. I get mine at 33 cents a gallon for refills at the supermarket. I don't know which stores have these refill stations in your area. The store I use is Albertsons. Just bring in your empty gallon jugs and fill them at the station. Good luck! :)
