I am fishlessly cycling my 29 gallon tank and plan to stock it with 10 pearl danios and 6 albino cory cats. I want a so-called showcase fish that will stand out, and am considering a gourami, like a pearl. I fear that the tank might have too much activity, however, and I don't want a shy fish that will hide away. Do you have any advice?

i swear you just posted this somewhere else?

I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you - but I will be reading what other people have to say with great interest. I am planning a tank of my own, and I too have been wondering if danios would annoy gouramis by being too active (I'm also even planning on having some Cory cats - but not necessarily albinos!).

Cant help you out, but you will love the albino corys. They are so cute and funny.

:hyper: Preals seem to be great fish. I haver had them for little over a week. the male is mean to females unless you have two or more. I hyave three female to one male haha. they do not seem to mind active fish and they don;t seem to bother any fish.

I have pearls, dwarfs and honeys wiith zebra dainos and none of them have a problem with each other.

Because the footprint of a 29 gallon is usualy onylt hat of a 20, zebra danios and gouramies are not a good combination for one as these two types of fish will compete for space in the upper layers - it still works but you will ahve a little more aggression and a little more stress.

Cories are fine and a pearl gourami (male) or trio of pearls (1 male, 2 females) would work but I'd go for a mid-dwelling shcooling fish like harlequinr asboras, black phantom tetras or checker barbs instead of the danios.

Thanks for all the input. I think that I'll skip the gouramis this time and go with pearl danios, albino corys, and maybe harlequin rasboras later on.
