Hi...
If this is a completely stupid question let me know...I have 2 cons...1 is def. a female..shes fat and a bright pink belly.....the other is smaller....he/she has spots but they seem more of a silver than pink...also his dorsal and anal fin are longer and have more blue than the female...Can males have spots....or is it just a female (he/she is only about 1.5 - 2").

due to breeding and such,yes. Males also have longer and sharper fins. they can also have some red in their belly. females can also have longer fins. the only true way to sex a fish is venting. how big are your cons? i have had males at young ages have red bellies then grew out of it. (i think its called plastic sex, but im not sure if its present in cichlids)

There young....the female is about 2 2.5" and the he/she is 1.5-2'.
