I have a breeding pair of cons, and wanted to know if i could put 2 1 to 1 and a half inch crayfish in there. Would they be eaten? The male is around 6 to 8 inches and has a big enough mouth to pick up big plastic plants and move them around!

i dont know much about cons but the crayfish imo would be a problem. by nature they are predators and will and are able to feed in fishes. in the event even if they do not succeed the fishes would/may be seriously wounded.

i have convicts and about 4 inch blue lobsters (actually are crayfish). the crayfish can hold their own. the convicts are quite defensive and did try to eat the crayfishes when i first got them, but after realising that the crays had pincers they soon stopped. aslong as you have hiding places then both are fine. none of my fishes have been hurt by the crays because they are aware that these lil buggers can attack. however my fishes are 4 inches max as opposed to your 6 inches.

obviously i may be lucky and also your fishes are huge, but i think that if you have hiding places then they should be okay. infact i think they will be aboslutely fine. crayfish are quite elusive until they get bigger i have noticed.

once they are about 4 inches they explore in daylight so thats nice to see.

I got 6 more free last night. The smallest ones are mybe 3/4 an inch and the largest is prob 2 1/2 an inch. I have set them up in a 10g tank with feeder fish, a 100watt submersible heater, and a homeade filter.
