Aequora
Fish Fanatic
My last batch of green guppies yielded one live set of conjoined twins and one fry with a parasitic twin. I remembered seeing a thread on here a few months ago where a member had conjoined twins but couldn’t get pictures of them. This was my first set and I haven’t had any since. The fully conjoined fry lived for well over a month before another fish decided they wanted to try a tasty double-stack. >__< They were free swimming and free thinking, unfortunately for the smallest of the two, he/she had the misfortune of battling its twin for who would swim on top and decide the direction. There were several occasions where I watched them fight it out and try to swim in different directions without the other, only to end up swimming in circles and looking rather pathetic. I can’t say I’m sad a larger fish made a snack of them; it wouldn’t have been much of a life and I’m not sure if the smallest twin-being stuck upside down all the time-would have survived for long. The fry with the parasitic twin may still be growing in the tank with the rest of its siblings, but I would have to double check. The larger it got, the smaller the parasitic twin became and it may very well have been fully absorbed in the end or rotted and fell off. When I do my final cull I’ll find out. Anyhow! Here are some pictures from their first few hours of life. Sorry I didn’t get around to getting any pictures of them when they were older. Figured this would be a good reference, nevertheless.
