Hi guys

I have been fishless cycling for a month now waiting for my stats to drop....

Info
Juwel Vision 180
Tap water parameters were Ammonia - 0.25 | Nitrite 0 | Nitrate 0 | PH 7.2
Tank ph 7.6 (whilst cycling)
Temp 28'c

Day 38: Ammonia 1ppm | Nitrite between 1ppm and 2ppm | Nitrate 10ppm *redosed to 4ppm
Day 39: Ammonia between 2-4 ppm | Nitrite between 0-0.25 | Nitrate between 20-40ppm
Day 40: Ammonia between 2-4 ppm | Nitrite between 0-0.25 (lighter blue than yesterday) | Nitrate 40 ppm
Day 41: Ammonia 2 ppm ¦ Nitrite 0-0.25 ¦ Nitrate 40 ppm
Day 42: Ammonia 1ppm ¦ Nitrite 0-0.25 ¦ Nitrate 40 ppm * redosed to 4ppm (realised this was wrong should have waited till 0ppm)

What's confusing me is following the add and wait method the Nitrite shouldn't have dropped yet. I now don't know where I am in the cycle. Can someone help!

Have you get any stats on the days prior to the last 2 ? If so could you post them for us so we can get a better idea.

Hi

There wasn't much change the ammonia for the first 3 weeks. Just slowly dropping and it was kinda hard to tell colour wise on the chart.

It's only the last week there has been any changes.

So I haven't thought to write any down.

Should have mentioned I'm using the Api liquid test kit.

Start recording reading on here daily from now mate so we can see what happens.

We will be able to tell more over the next few days.

I am following the add and wait method and the first redose says to do at 1ppm so that was day 38 for me, but I messed up last night for the second instead of waiting for it to drop to 0 - bit to keen I guess. I was only sporadically checking the tank and the highest we ever saw the Nitrite go was 2 ppm. That's what's confusing me.

We saw ammonia drop to zero before we had a spike. It might make sense to do the checking more regularly now to give you a better idea of the trends. When you do see the spike drop the dose to 2ppm

i am checking every day now and posting results above.

I just dont understand why they nitrite seemed to be climbing like it was supposed to and now its dropped and the Nitrate is rising.

We got some gravel and water and a soaked sponge from the MILs 2 weeks a go (sponge floated in the tank for 2 days) and put that in could i have picked up some of the Nitrite loving bacteria from her tank and they have developed faster than the Ammonia ones, OR will my Nitrite start to rise again?
