Hi all!

Im a bit confused about breeding (not the simple bit i mean line). If i got some pure breed guppies, could i just keep breeding them together and when I have too many sell them as pure or is that inbreeding? I dont have enough space to line breed them so I was wondering if this was a way to go!

Thanks, orange shark

yeah that is inbreeding try getting a few the same breed from 2 or there people to add a difernt blood line into ure breeding

i use 3 bloodlines, i have them in seperat tanks so no cross breeding. lets call them tank 1, 2, and 3. all divide males / females.
i take a male from tank 1 and a female from tank 2, i breed the female and let the male back in tank 1 on the male side. then take the female and move here to tank 4. to have fry, i sell the fry or keep the best female and male and leave them in tank 4. then take a male from tank 2 and a female from tank 3 and do the same thing, then so on. so every time i dont mix aunts or uncles or dads with children. and they are all fresh.

damn! I dont have enough tanks for line breeding :(

ah well, ill still get some pure bred guppies and put them in my community

if you can keep them from breeding they will stay pure.

it depends on how long down the generations this strain is without the addtion of new blood, strains dont become weak for quite a while if inbred but new blood is always good
