First off all i would like to tell everyone that i have just started with these type off chiclids and since i live in Malta it is difficult to get information so mybe i sound stupid with the questions i post.

After reading several topics in this forum regarding the PH of the water that it should be around 8, i check my aquarium with Tetra 5 in 1 test strips and I found the water to have a PH of 6.4 ,I started putting the PH up by adding Sodium bicarbonate slowly and after 5 days the ph went up to 8, but the problem is that the KH went up more than 200d
Since my Tetra test 5 in 1 the maximum kh is 200d I am afraid I am going to kill all the fish.
Can some help

Thanks in advance
Emmanuel

Sorry the readings 200d should be 20 d

Sorry the redings 200d should read 20d

Thanks in advance
Emmanuel

The high KH won't affect the fish, so don't worry about that. My worry is that you are raising the PH considerably and this could lead to unstable water and this would harm the fish. Test the water regularly to make sure the ph isn't sinking and it's worth considering using limestone or crushed coral to help buffer it as well.

Hi
These are my constant water parameters should i stay like this or adjust thanks for all the help

NO3 NO2 GH KH PH
25 0 >16d >16d 7

Your PH of 7 seems lower then it should be considering your other parameters, but anyway it's not too bad and you can just leave it if you wish.
