I had one die 2 days ago suffering dropsy, and another later that day was very poorly, was I assume it was similar and have been treating for internal bacteria. But now Im not sure. She hasn't swollen at all, she has clamped fins and cant really swim, and one side of her face is swollen. Ive got her in 3 inches of water so she can get to th surface and have treated with an anti internal bacteria med and have been keeping the water as clean as possible. She has eaten. I have no idea whats wrong with her. Does anyone have any ideas.

Oh and the main tanks stats are ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 15

If her face is swollen keep going with the bacterial meds, thats all I can think of sorry.

Thanks Wilder, its just on one side, do you think it might be an infected gill area? Would it also explain the clamped fins?

Clamped fins are a sign of stress.
As long as the gills not red and inflamed keep going with the bacteria med.
Which med are you using.
By the looks of it anti internal bacteria med by interpet, you can double dose on that, but only if you have alot of aeration, and the fish can handle it.

Ar that makes sense thanks. Its interpret no9 i think? which ever interpret is the anti internal bacteria one

yeah it is that one, Shes not doing too badly apart from not really swimming, shes not stripey, just that face thing. I'll keep up with the treatment and see how it goes

A member contacted interpet and he advised her to double dose, i've done it and had no ill effects on the fish or the filter.
Good luck.

Realised that I didnt mean clamped, the fins are stiff like they are flared all the time but she cant un flare.

Bless her so no improvement then.

Well the lump/swelling on her face is def smaller than it was, but not really much other improvement

Sorry the board playing up.
Is she an old betta.
She needs an antibiotic really, but nly available in the uk from a vet.

No shes not that old, um 5 months when I got her, so about 10 months now? It seems to be good that the lump/swelling is going down? Im paranoid about all the others now though :(

The thing is with are meds are they are not strong really, you have to get on top of things fast for them to work.

Ok good luck and fingers crossed.
