Confused About Mollies

Hey ppl, just a quick question coz im a bit confused. I have 2 balloon mollies, (1 white female & 1 orange male). The female has just given birth to about 20 fry, but some have come out black, i dont have any black fish, so how can this be? plz some1 let me know. thanx

Mollies can store sperm from previous matings for a long time, sometimes up to 7 pregnancies. She may be having fry from when she mated with a black male. However, Molly genetics can be quite confusing, since so many colors have been bred with so many other colors. You don't have any idea what genes they have.

Also, you should ideally get another female or two, otherwise this one will get stressed out by the male's constant attention.
