I've seen people recommend puffernet for Puffer info. So can someone please, in english, explain this?

I'm considering a puffer for this tank:

But I need to decide what kind, how many (if more than one), what tank mates, if any, what plants, if any, etc... :/

Also, I need to figure out if I need to buy more testing equipment, supplies etc... :(

GSP's do best in species only tanks, they will nip/kill/eat most anything else. Not many plants can survive in Brackish tanks. Java moss and Java fern are the recommended ones, even those will die when the salinity goes past 1.010 or so. I Kept a java fern in my puffer tank for a while, the puffers bit perfect round holes all over it and the pieces would float around the tank so I removed it. Right now I have a Moss Ball (Marimo Ball) in there which seems to be ok.

I actually red that 8 times last night and what I figured out is there are two puffers that both go by Green Spotted Puffer.

One is a brackish fish and one is a Freshwater fish.

This would explain all the confusion information I keep finding with one site saying Freshwater and the other saying Brackish. :/

It also means that my LFS has one of the Freshwater ones in. :) I just wish the tank I just setup would be cycled in time. :/ Guess I will wait till the next shipment. :/

Okay. My LFS introduced me to a person that actually has some of both! :D

There are two different species of GSP that are widely confused. One is Brackish the other is Freshwater. Although both species can survive in either, just shortens lifespan. :/

I've decided on a Freshwater GSP, which is what my Primary LFS carrys. :) He can order the brackish ones, but doesn't stock them. :)

Is a 30 Gallon Long big enough for a puffer?
