Is this a bolivian? It was labelled in the shop as a Ruby Ram:

Im pretty sure they are, i wanted some East Euro (German) but they didnt have any and these looked pretty nice. They were in a tank with corys so mine will be okay, and i assume the Pleco will be, but dont know about the betta.

Any information i should need? Or advice?

Thanks

Yes, they are Bolivian Rams and very nice ones too. Ive got some with a betta and they have been fine together.

Yes, Bolivian Ram.
Prefers higher temperatures where it will show it's best colours. Feed a good flake/pellet and treat of bloodworm.
Not aggressive but some personalities can differ. Not that picky about water, just keep ammonia and nitrite at 0 and nitrate low.

Oh.

When i first put them in they were okay. Iv just got back now and the betta has rammed each of the rams and chased them, and the bolivians just swim away and dont retaliate. Hes stopped now. He flared at one of them before ramming it.

Will they be okay?

First signs of real aggressiveness iv seen from the little blue fella. He also started chasing my cory cats aggressively too, which he hasnt done,

Another question, is one a different sex to the other? Just one doesnt have as much yellow, the black stripe over its eye or on the front of its upper fin, and less red on its lower fins.

Firstly, you should have quarantined these fish for 6 weeks before adding them to your main tank. If they are sick, you have just risked all the other fish in the tank. A 10 gallon would do for no less than 6 weeks to watch and make sure they are healthy.

Putting in the new fish, the betta wants to establish its pecking order. Watch them closely and if the betta continues to attack them, you may have to move him elsewhere if you want the rams. They are bolivians.

How do they look stressed? Theyre okay in the tank, swimming around with each other, no signs of stress from what iv seen. Plus that picture is them in the bag, theyre bound to be stressed stuck in that for hours before actually getting into the tank lol, i know i would be.

I also took the betta out a few days ago and hes in my dads tank and doing well, now the rams arent scared any more and come out of hiding.

I dont have a quarantine tank, and never have, i have no room, but iv never had any casualties from adding straight to tank (after acclimitising for an hour or two). I also add fin rot and fungus control stuff everytime i add new fish, because it says to on the bottle. I had a 10 gallon before this tank and that was the biggest tank i could have in my room, then i changed my desk which allowed me to get this, so a quarantine tank is out of the question really, but i try to counter this by getting healthy fish. I always look for dead fish in the tank, if there is i wont buy any. I always look for the healthiest fish and most active and get them.

But my fish certainly do look fine and happy though in the tank, they rarely hide, and theres no conflict with tank mates now.

Oh also, i bought some Hikari floating pellet food for them, but they much prefer the catfish (shrimp?) pellets. Is that normal? They also dont touch the cucumber, which is what the Plec and cory cats eat. Iv checked a few sites and they said they pretty much eat everything, and to give them Bloodworms once in a while, so i may give them some of that today. How often should i feed BW's though? Once a week?

PS. Theres no blue on them, only a few sparkly few dots on ones tail, but you cant see that on the picture.

Lol no problem. Well they all seem fine and dandy, both are eating and playing with each other. Iv seen some different types of behaviour from each, not sure if its normal as i know nothing about rams.....

They seem to kiss.

The one with the darker stripe over his eye used to chase the other one, but now the other one chases him back lol, but most of the time they hang round together.

The one with less markings was doing some sort of dance across the glass yesterday morning, back and forth.

I was a little worried that one wasnt eating, but he had a good meal last night so im not worried anymore. And they LOVE bloodworms. They wont touch their floating cichlid food, but love the corys catfish pellets, as do my tetras. They also dont eat the cucumber that i put in for my plec and corys, nor the flake food.

What else do they like?
