Conditioning Salt

I've been reading posts on here and it says to put salt in the water to help with fin rot, but some other posts say to put the fish in a salt water bath for som other conditions, such as air bladder problems. My question is this, should I just salt the water (addeding 1 Tbsp. per 5 US gallons as per the containers instructions) or should I just give him a bath? Thanks!

I personally would use a half dose of melafix for fin rot with increased aeration
