ok so i put my bettas in conditioning acoording to cracker's website and i have 1 male blowing a bubblenest. that means he's ready for breeding right? well then i looked in my girl's and she had blown bubbles too. then i look in another of my girls tank and she had done the same thing. 1 male and 2 girls blew a nest or least the start of one. in males that means hes ready but what does it mean with females?
ps. go visit crackers website: www.freewebs.com/cracker_bettas/
thank you

Some females do blow bubbles, or it could be males in disguise ;)

no these are females. they are older but still get bars and want to breed. plus the egg spot. the one is a dark female and is a little mean. there is only one male that can handle her. the other one is a cambodian is so sweet.
anyone else know anything?

ok, first of all, not a good idea to curse on here since they are so many kids that read these sights, and well, it isn't a good idea anyway.

But about your question :) !

I've also noticed that my little girls make bubble nests. It's something they do, but it really isn't a sign of anything to look for, as it is with the males. When the females make them, they are typically just random bubbles floating across the surface of the water, whereas the boys will make an actual nest that's all clumped together. It's cute both ways though! I may be wrong on this, but I believe a female making a bubble nest is just a sign of a happy betta! She may also be saying she's ready to be a mommy, but don't quote me on that. Do you know all the breeding signs to look out for? If not, just ask :good:

About Cracker's bettas...I think he is just very good at what he does, lol! I get the impression that most of his males have bred enough to know what they are doing, making his method pretty easy. I don't know how much luck I would have using his method but I have never tried it. It takes more effort on my part to breed them. Sure does sound great! If you try it let me know how it works for you!

i had a female build a full out bubblenest it was smaller but put together and that happenend when i had her and my male in the divider so im pretty sure it was a sign of wanting to mate. :)

yeah its a sign of happyness and breeding.Leave them seperated a little longer and see if he makes his nest bigger.

i havent had a female build a nest but thats just unluckyness but i male should always build bubblenest no matter what but if he doesnt stop then ready for breeding.

sorry about the cursing ill go edit it. ok well now he has a big nest ready and he's waiting on his mistress but i'm going to feed him and her for a few more days then try and spawn them. i have read just about everything there is to read about them.(to make sure i was prepared.) i got all my supplies ready and waiting I will keep you guys and girls updated. this will be my first spawn so i'm a little nervous because i heard a male can die from breeding but from what i have read that seems to be very rare.

Im sure you will do fine, goodluck!
Any pics of the 2 you are going to breed?

Thank you for the edit, that was sweet of you!

Goodluck with the span, let me know how it works. Glad you are prepared! Sounds like you have a very happy betta!

UPDATE:
i put my male in the new home overnight and then added the female. in the chimmney of course. and today i wake up and what do i see a bubblenest. so i released her. she was barring and the male was beautiful.

just keep a close eye on them.If the female is getting open wounds get her out into some warm medicated water.
