Hi.
I'm looking to put my big tank in the living room but I'm really concerned about the weight on the old house Joyce's. the house is about 100 years old .
The space I'm using used to have a fireplace and the floor has a space of about 2.5 or 3ft which is concreat from the foundations up , where the flat part of the fire place sat.
I'm assuming this is a load bearing wall .
The tank is something like 60'' x 15'' x 18'' with 10mm glass. The stand is home made from wood and is fairly heavy too. Haven't done the calculations but I'm guessing this is a hell of a weight. Had a 125 rio on the exact spot for a couple of years with no floor problems at all.
Can anybody give me any advice . Will this be ok or is it a disaster in the making. This month alone I've had my 125 cook with a faulty heater and my wee lad cracked his 60 lter so I don't need anything more.
