Hi everyone,

I bought this boy as a white fish who had a few black patches 7 weeks ago, since then his color has contentiously changed, getting redder in the body and fins.
What do you think? is he marbling or is something wrong?

I also got a pair of Betta Smaragdina nearly 2 weeks ago, and i've since noticed black spots on both fish, but mostly on the female that look like freckles on her nose. these spots seem to be multiplying. Does this sound like something to be worried about or are they freckles? Sorry i cant get a pic, these fish are worse then splenders to photograph!!!

Hi
When they're bought from lfs's, they probably aren't showing their true colours. This can be due to stress and/or age. Its only when you get them home and put them in a nice tank that they settle and their colours start to come out. I would say he is fine. Take a look at Shiva in my siggie.......pretty similar colours. Your boy could also be DT, double tail, although i'm not 100%.

don't know anything about smaragdina i'm afraid, but as for the splenden, he definately looks like a marble to me. thats the thing about marbles, cuz they are constantly changing, you never know what you are gonna end up with! lol
and i'm pretty certain he's a DoubleTail too bronzecat, although from the pics the split in his tail could possibly be mistaken for a split (maybe) but the width of his dorsal fin gives him away! its almost up to his head, definate sign of a DT

Thanks everyone

I just wanted someone else to conferm that he is a marble. The last white fish i bought did this as well so i kind of expected it, but hes turned so red!! He is a double tail, atleast thats what i bought him as.

As for the smaragdina, do fish get freckles? the spots dont seem to be bothering either fish. Ill just keep an eyey on them

Tara
