I have a very pregnant guppy who seems to be having a hard time. For about 3 days she's been mostly laying on teh bottom of the aquarium with an occasional swim around. Her anal is very big with a dark spot. The opening is constantly becoming big, then instantly small again. Over and over and over. I moved her into the fry tank, free swimming, hoping she would have babies but nothing has changed. She looks so uncomfortable. I am also wondering if it's labor at all. Constipation? I'm leaning more towards labor. She's pretty big and it's about her due date.

Any advice? I really want to just stick my hand in there and give her tummy a gentle squeeze to help. BUT I WON'T, I KNOW THAT WILL HURT HER!!! I feel so sorry for her. She looks so unhappy.

No, no picture. Fiance is still out of town with the camera.

sounds like she is having trouble giving birth. Make sure none of the other fish are picking on her and just leave her be. She will either be all right or not. You can try rubbing her belly but could well damage her. Not sure what the temp is but turn it up to 28C. Sometimes the warmer water can help them give birth a bit easier. Also increase surface turbulence to make sure there is plenty of oxygen in the water.
