the first fish is a swordtail i've had her for about a month she is close to giving birth. I would like to move her to a 20gal and raise the babies. But first when she poops it's very long, it dosn't appear string or white. So is this normal? In the last week I also have seen her sitting on the bottom and hanging at the surface. Is this because she is close to giving birth or not? Other than those 2 things she appears healthy and swims around most of the time.

The second fish is a female boesemani rainbow fish. I've had her only a week and she is in a 15gal quarintine tank with a cory and a male dwarf gourami. She is a little under 2" long and since i've had her she hasn't eaten :( .these fish are said to eat any food put in the tank and thats what my 2 larger males do. She dosen't appear to be sick. She get excited when i feed them but she won't eat the food(flakes, bloodworms, alge wafers). So how can i get her to eat?

Hanging at the surface and laying on the bottom sounds like a bacterial infection.
The other fish if not eating not good, but with out any symtoms to go on it hard to say.
Can you post water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

She isn't sitting on the bottom or hanging at the top a lot and she hasn't done it at all to day, and it was only for a little bit. Right now she is eating alge off the plastic plants. The tank does have a strong current in it. I'm just being very careful cuz i'm planing on moving her to my prized planted tank.

The other fish are eating perfectly fine. I will post the water stats in a little bit (got to do water test first) and i am going to call the petstore and find out what they where feeding her. Also she has tried to eat the alge wafters of the bottom of the tank.

also do you want water stats for both tanks wilder?

Ok i see it could be because of the pregnancy, but when i kept livebearers they would stay at the surface and rest on the bottom,
not good news so keep an eye on her.
Stats on both tanks please just to make sure everything is ok in that direction.

water stats:
15gal
ph-7.4
amm.- 0
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- 40

55gal
ph- 7.2
amm.- 0
nitrite- 0
nitrate- 20

I called the LFS i bought the boesemani from and they feed theirs sinking pellets. I don't have any of these, i'll go to the lps tomarrow and get some.

The swordtail is now going to the surface at random intervals and breathing from the surface for about 10 sec. then going back do to eat alge. Also wilder i have not kept any livebearers for a long time so i may be discribing behavior that is normal.

As long as he's not resting on plants and gravel or ornaments, just keep a close eye on him.Good luck.
