I think I may kill every plant I touch. No joke!

I have a ten gallon tank with 2 amazon swords and a small Anubis plant. I also have a Fluval Spec with 2 amazon (?) crypt plants. I do not have a CO2 canister (no room for it :( ) but I do use API Root Tabs and Leaf Booster, as well as weekly water changes. The ranks are cycled.

No matter what I do, the leaves on my plants rot off one by one. As soon as I notice the plant is sick/dying, I trim bad leaves off. I watch my aquarium light timing, especially since my recent battle with diatoms.

What can I do to make my poor plants stay alive? I'm very tired of repurchasing plants :(
Thanks :)

Light wattage please? Also how long are they on for and do you know that Crypts and Swords will melt once emersed and then grow new leaves for their new conditions.

It's an Aqueon 50/50 Daylight/Bluelught 10W lamp. I have 2 mini 6" ones. I usually have the lights on between 3-6 hrs per day. I've heard of melting but never quite understood the term before...

A lot of aquarium plants are grown with just the roots underwater. When you put them in your tank, those leaves rot away ('melt') and you have to wait for the new, submerged type leaves to grow. This will take at least a few weeks, so you might be throwing your plants out too soon.
