Currently i have my betta in a 12 gal tank, i am not sure whether to keep him on his own permanently or whether to add a few fish to keep him company as i feel sorry for him being on his own.

I was thinking along of the lines of maybe 5 rasboras and a small pleco that only grows to 4" or 5" such as a bristelnose or something.

Suggestions welcome.

Ghost shrimp can be eaten by the betta. I had three ghost shrimp in with my betta (they only lived a few weeks). He liked to chase them for the first couple days. After he got used to them, he would leave them alone for the most part

ADF's would be too big for the betta to eat. Depending on your betta, it might pick on them though

I would suggest sand or small, loose gravel if youre going to get ADf's as they like to burrow. You will also need plenty of plants and hidey holes for them

You could easily have 5 ADF's and 10+ ghost shrimp in a 12 gallon

I have two blue mystery snails in my 10G with my betta and they are perfectly fine. Snails can be an option.

yeah i would go with cories. they would be an excellent addition to the tank.

I have kept panda corys with a betta in the past, he paid no attention to them at all and they were fun to watch :good:

The only thing I can recommend are african dwarf frogs. I have a couple with my betta and there's no problems at all.
