what's the max wattage per compact fluorescent bulb i can use on my 5 gal and 10 gal incandescent hoods?
the hoods are made by all-glass. the 5 gal hood has room for one screw-in bulb that doesn't exceed 25 watts. the 10 gal hood has room for two screw-in bulbs that also can't exceed 25 watts per bulb.
does that mean 25 watts incandescent or 25 watts fluorescent? or does it not matter?
i'm asking because i placed a 14-watt cfl in my 5 gal hood and noticed a burning plastic smell shortly afterwards. i took it out and replaced it with a 25-watt incandescent.
