I have a community tank, currently containing: 3x Neon Tetras, 1x Platty, 2x Molly, 1x Peppered Cory, 1x Simense Fighter (male) 1x Plec, unfortunity a few have died recently, i think due to white spot, all fish are now fine, regular water changes etc, have done a water test today, everything is perfect, looking for some new community fish to add, any ideas?
Many Thanks
Bex

what sized tank? the plec might outgrow it, i would think about getting your neon tetras numbers up, to about 5-6.and also a few more corys as they like to be in groups. on another note, im pleased with your betta getting along with both platies and mollies. some of the ones ive had would flare and got nuts as just seeing a glimps of one. to be honest, i cant think of any good fish to add, i will let you know if i think of any good ones.sorry i couldnt be more help

if i were you, i would make larger schools of the fish you already have, neons really look good in a decent sized group, as with the cory. it really depends on how big your aquarium is also.

Hi Bex, dont add any guppies if you plan on keeping your fighter in there, he will pick on them.

betta + other fish = chaos

I disagree completly! Aswell as the guppy comment... I kept my male betta in a 10gallon tank with guppies and he was only bothersome when it came to the babies, which he greedily ate... bettas are fine community fish, some are nasty though, it depends on the mood of the fish... Add what you want to the tank don't just listen to people saying not this and not that... my suggestion is to bulk up on the groups of neons and corys... get atleast another 6 neons and atleast 4 more corys...

EDIT----> Edited to add that corys IME only school with corys of the same variety... IE peppered corys with peppered corys, albino corys with albino corys etc...

How about some zebra danios? They are always on the move and fun to watch.

I just started a new tank and have a few along with some tetra. They all get along very well AND I have a male betta in there too.

bettas+ danios can work out (I suppose) but I have seen tanks where it did not work out- and let me tell you it was not a pretty sight. Apart from the temptation the betta offers to the danios (and before you tell me that this only happens in small groups of danios, no these were large schools), there is also the question of bettas being easily stressed out, whereas danios are completely hyper.

Zebra danios are a bad idea in my opinion. One of my Bettas was kept with them at the lfs and they ripped his tail to shreds. :(
It's entirely up to you how you stock the tank but be extremely careful with your fighter, they are actually a solitary fish.
Make sure you have another tank to move your Betta into in case things don't work out.
