Hi my fish loving brethren

I have a glass cat fish of approximately 4 inches long, he has fungus on his fins, tail and feelers. He has also deveolped a red mark at the base of the tail. Does anyone know what this is and how I can treat it? Any information would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm not sure what the ettiquette here is, whether I'll be frowned upon for asking for advice when I've never contributed to the site, I hope it doesn't happen. If so, just tell me the rules and I'll play the game. Just asking for advice, any would be appreciated. Cheers from a fishy friend

Hi Cap'n Cod Eye,

Firstly, welcome to the forum :hi:. :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi:

You have not broken the rules my friend, we are here to help (and if you can help any of us, that's great too).

It sounds like your fish's fungus is quite bad. The red marks on the tail fin sounds like it may be finrot. If you could post a pic it would help on the way to getting a positive id.

These are both treatable. I recommend that you use Protozin to treat the fungus, and Myxazin for the finrot (if it is finrot).

Do you know why your fish is unwell? It's worth finding out otherwise you may treat the disease and it come straight back if you don't fix the cause.

How long has your tank been running?
What size is your tank?
What filtration do you use?
What else is in the tank other than the sick catfish?
What are your water parameters?
Ammonia?
Nitrite?
Nitrate?
PH?

Sorry for so many questions, just trying to get to the underlying problem which has made your fish ill. :good:

Cheers
