Alrighty I have heard that you can keep 4 or 6 bettas together in a tank. I'm just wondering if you can have 2, or will they attack one another? Can you have 3 or 5? Or should it be an even number? I'm just curious. Thanks

The number should be four, but I've kept two in the same tank together. Guess it just depends on the personality on the fish.

I had 2 females in my community tank with 7 bloodfin tetras, with 100% NO nipping from either parties. I added a new girl to that tank, a more mature yellow betta... And again, no nipping from her or anyone else ^_^ Maybe I'm just really lucky.

The best way to guarantee a peaceful tank is to go with a minimum of four. It CAN work in numbers like 2 or 3, but it's much more likely to work with a MINIMUM of four. Beyond that, you can have any number of females that your tank can support, even or odd.

No I'm getting two females and I was curious if I could keep them together but I think I am going to divide the tank.

I've got 8 females in a tank together. They are all spawn sisters. There's also two small males in with them. Four of the females were put in the tank this morning so right now there's a squabble over pecking rights between the smaller females. The males? Ha, they could care less. They go about their business and every now and then one of the new females will challenge them. These are all from the same spawn but quite small - slow developers.

So you think if they are sisters they wouldn't necessarily try to attack each other?

They challenge each other and spar a bit but nothing serious. Mine are all from the same spawn and are used to being with each other but in tighter quarters. The larger female will challenge the males from time to time but nothing ever really comes from it.

I did notice that most of the focus is on the cambodian colored ones. They get chased the most and one is quite aggressive.

Alright, so would 2.5- 3 gals be big enough for two? I don't know, seems small to me... Or not? Otherwise I'll keep them seperate
