I had 3 female bettas in a 30 gallon tank. Only one left, so I went and bought 6 baby females today. When they were acclimating the lonely female in the tank started flaring at them in the bags. I thought  so when i released them in the tank I kept a close watch. At first she was flaring at the new ones and then I looked awhile after and she was nipping and fighting with them. I told my son if there was any problems with her, he gets her for his room. Well she is in a temporary jug that i use only for the tanks until my son gets home to set up his 2 gallon tank he has. She is huge compared to the babies i got today and she was in the tank with a few tetras for months, so i guess she thought they should not be in her space, even though it is a 30 gallon tank. The little ones are happy now and no problems with them. So for people thinking of a female betta community tank get all the bettas at the same time or make sure they are the same size and it should work out for you.

lol i had the same problem! My little girls didnt take it though they teamed up and eventually made her accept them. Girl power

i could have waited longer to see what happened but didn't want the tiny new bettas hurt in anyway. She is doing fine in my son's bedroom in her own little tank. His room is warm enough in the summer, no need for heater, maybe in the winter, but for now it is fine.

The problem with sororities is that you have to introduce all fish at once or they fight over territory. Yours had a very large territory and when the new females came in they threatened her territory. If you want them to get along now the best thing to do is rearrange the aquarium decorations, bag all the fish, and then put them in so they have to get new territory.

I know they are all females. My other female is doing well in my son's bedroom. He wanted one and this way I don't have to go buy another betta just for him. Everything is going well, they can hide quite well in the tank, most of the time I can only see a few at a time.
