Common Plec Changing Colour!

Does anyone know if a common chocolate plec changes its colour. He is turning faded and has light patches on him like he has been bleached!!! We have just been through a big disease in the tank and lost 5 fish through velvet and the tank was heavily medicated and wasnt sure if this may have caused it or if its a sign he is ill oe just old...hes about 8 - 9 years old. He seems fine in himself actualy quite lively and the water quolity is good (all tests are fine)..has anyone experienced it.

When plecs go pale it is a sign of stress, he has quite a few years left in him as well as common plecs can live for 20yrs+, how many gallons does the tank he is in hold and what exactly are your test results for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates?

my big plec is usually a lot paler under full lighting, when I go to half lighting he gets darker and goes almost black when the lights have been off for a while.
