hey guys

ive noticed over the past few days that a common plec is getting slighty aggressive and is "attacking" the other common plec, neon tetra, and my betta fish.
When i say attacking, i mean its chasing them round the tank when they get a little close to it

i was warned about possible fin nipping from my tetras or the betta maybe getting a little aggressive but nothing about plecs

any ideas guys?

(all the fish i estimate at about 1 month old but possibly up to 3)

Hi what is the tank size and the age of the setup?

Common plecos can be very territorial and given that you have two in one tank? i'd hazard a guess that the tank is way too small, These fish can easily be reaching 18" in length and for just one you will need a minimum of either a 4x2 or a 5 foot long tank

110 litre J rekord 800. I bought the 2 plecs from the lfs who just so happend to sell 2 for £5, he also recommended 2 as they will clean the tank..i told him that my tank was still cycling (2 weeks in with mature filter media)

I wasnt informed of the fishless cycle method or of the cycling required for that matter before i bought the tank and fish and have learned all this since

(Lfs was happy to sell me everything within 2 days, without any advice)

I have been doing daily water checks and water changes if any ammonia shows on liquid test

gonna rehome the common plecs into my huge tank im getting for my bedroom and also move my clown loach when the time comes (buying 3 more clown loaches once tank is cycled )

Ill monitor the plecs

is it possible they can actually kill the other fish? (except from stress)
