Common Freshwater fish!

Hey alot of people talk about alot of different fish on this forum . Some rare and some very common .

But out of all the fish that we always hear about and seem to be common, which have you never seen in you LFS's.


For example, I always read about cardinal tetras, people on here have cardinal tetras. However, I have never laid my own eye (in person) on a cardinal tetra.

Guppies My lfs has some platys and mollies but VERY few guppies. I don't know how they manage it

Puffer fish

For being a small store, they have a great selection.

Also...... Discus

I have about 3 lfs , and 3 chain stores in my area (I feel lucky about that hearing some stories of you guys driving 30 to 50 miles for realible LFS )

I saw 2 discus in a tank, at one of these stores, and they were not even for sale.

I am thinking about starting discus tank, and think i may have to purchase online!

I see lots of fish in my lfs... I don't get too see too many baby plecos though. Only the huge ones

Badis badis badis. They have carried, on and off, several varieties of badis, but never badis badis badis. All I have seen is pictures.

Also plakats. And up until about a month ago, I could have added crowntail bettas.

Altum angels. Anything other than the basic varieties of corydoras. Female Endler's.

Years ago, I used to see Simpson hi-fin swords in all the stores. Now, you occasionally see hi-fin swords, but they are not the same as the original Simpson variety. I don't even know if they are still around.

I forgot... I don't see Deltas, Halfmoons and many other diffrent breeds of bettas

I've never seen a blue acara...would it be compatible with an oscar if i did manage to get one?

I've never seen bristlenoses. Never at all. Nuh-uh. Zero. Nada. And i want them!!! Stupid lfs

I have never ever come across rummynose tetras,bristlenose cats or endlers. I had to order them ALL online. It's getting to where I don't even go to the LFS anymore unless I'm bored,I just order online. )

I just started seing rummy noses in the last 2 months, but b4 that I never saw them. I remember when I first saw them I was in awwww.

Sometimes you forget how spectacular some tetras are

Can't get most things around here. I buy pretty much all my fish mail-order although I don't buy fish very much anymore.

The only tetras my lfs has are neons, cardinals and serpae. Occasionally some black skirts, but that's it. Their serpaes are REALLY nice though!
